Flax seed oil is also known as flax oil or linseed oil which is obtained from the seeds of the plant Linium utitatissimum . It is a flowering plant which is blue in color and grown on the Western Canadian Prairies and known for its oil which is rich in seeds. It is one-third oil and the rest is made up of protein, fiber and mucilage. It is one of the rich sources of essential fatty acids and contains omega 3-essential fatty acid, alpha linolenic acid and omega 6-essential fatty acid. Fiber - Flax seeds contain mucilage, soluble and insoluble fiber. Metabolic waste, colon of toxic material and dried mucus is cleaned by the fibers of flax seed oil. This fiber serves as an excellent food for the bacteria in the intestine which keeps all the diseases away.

Vitamins - The flax seeds oil which contains important vitamins are vitamin E and B-group vitamins.

Lignans - Flax seeds are rich sources of lignans and these lignans are natural plant chemicals. They contain antioxidant properties and has 75-80 percent more lignans as compared to grains and vegetables.

Essential Fatty Acids - This natural oil is a rich source of omega 6-essential fatty acid, omega 3-essential fatty acid and alpha linolenic acid.

Minerals - The important minerals which flax seed oil contain are sulfur, zinc, copper, silicon, potassium, iron and cobalt.

If one uses these seeds or oil then one should grind them before eating otherwise it will not be absorbed. This natural oil can be added to any kind of drink and protein shakes.
