Before taking these supplements, one should consult the doctor about the appropriate dosage. One should take about 1500mg of glucosamine per day and about 1200mg of chondroitin sulfate per day for 6-8 weeks along with the medication.

Pregnant women and children should not take this supplement as women can have adverse effects on a child or on a developing fetus.

One should not take chondroitin sulfate along with the aspirin therapy or blood-thinning medication.
